June 23, 3:30 PM Update – Indiana Michigan Power (AEP) reports that almost 100% of customers have power restored, other than a pocket of several customers and a few customers who need to have an electrician do work on the service connection before AEP can connect power.

June 22, 10:10 AM Update – According to Indiana Michigan Power (AEP), 95% of City customers will have their power restored by midnight on Tuesday, and 100% by Wednesday at 8:00 PM. COOLING CENTERS

Persons in need of a cooling center are welcome to use the community room at City Hall, 224 W. Buffalo St. (US-12). City Hall will be open 24 hours a day until all power is restored. New Buffalo Middle School's cafeteria is also available, from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM – hours may be extended. Please use the building's east entrance. Persons in medical need of a shower can use the facilities at the City Transient Marina, 100 W. Water St.
STORM DAMAGE TREE DEBRIS REMOVAL
June 18, 2010 — The City was hit by a severe storm which knocked down many trees, and interrupted electric, telephone, and other services. City Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments responded immediately to clear trees blocking streets, and to mark downed utility lines until those companies could respond.
Now that the storm is over, the City is working to remove tree debris generated by the storm. Your help and patience are greatly appreciated. Please bring tree debris to the edge of the street for City crews to collect and chip. Stumps uprooted during the storm will be collected from along the edge of the street as well.
It is very important that tree debris be left along the edge of the street, but not actually on the street. No wire, metal, or other waste is allowed to be mixed in with the tree debris. It is easier for City crews to handle large branches rather than cutting them up.
