"Gateway" by Roy Quiriconi
Gateway is a new sight to see at New Buffalo's waterfront this year. Rising 40 feet into the air, the stream-lined steel sculpture celebrates both time and space. Set in a north-south orientation, this sailors' beacon doubles as a sun dial.
Created by local artist Roy Quiriconi and dedicated to the memory of Larry G. Bubb, local banker and Harbor Country co-founder. Mr. Bubb's memory was honored at Gateway's recent dedication. Guests of honor included Congressman Fred Upton and New Buffalo Mayor Rusty Geisler.
The sculpture was a gift to the city of New Buffalo from the Larry Bubb Endowment. Many local businesses donated their time and talent toward the effort.
