Amtrak Update: Closure of the railroad crossing at Whittaker Street at Oselka Drive - Re-opening May 22
Amtrak has closed the railroad crossing at Whittaker Street at Oselka Drive. This project began Wednesday, May 6. Amtrak is making track repairs that will improve the ride quality and safety of the track where it crosses Whitaker Street, then repaving the road crossing to create a smoother driving surface. Amtrak employees and contractors have been working at the site daily.
In a change from what we previously informed the community, repaving and reopening of the crossing at Whitaker Street will happen by Friday, May 22. We hope the inconvenience is not too great. We are proud to be part of the New Buffalo community and hope you understand as we try to complete this work quickly yet safely.
Thank you for your patience while we work to keep the nation’s passenger train system safe and reliable.
